About Us - A Little History
Woodworking by Cookie
My Grandfather, Leonard "Cookie" Selig, built a small, one-bedroom log cabin in Grand Lake, Colorado and then affectionately hung a sign above the door naming it "Fir View". Ironically, there were no fir trees in sight, but that was his sense of humor.
Grandpa Cookie was a master woodworker, building handmade furniture including bedroom sets, grandfather clocks, tables, and toys for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed making puzzles, fun pictures, and pretty much anything he could as long as it was made of wood.
Though he isn't with us anymore, these handmade treasures live on, reminding us every day of the amazing memories we shared with him. Generations of our family have enjoyed Fir View and the special memories that we made there. So it was only fitting that as we honor him by continuing the woodworking tradition, we named it after that cabin that was so precious to him.
